2010 San Diego Comic-Con
Wednesday
We arrived in San Diego at around 2 pm and headed over to our fabulously located hotel right next to the convention center. I unpacked my costumes and we all reconnoitered over to get our badges with no delay. I shopped about a bit in terms of my free bag and picked up a giant Chuck bag.
From there, we split up to our various adventures. For myself it was dinner at Dick's Last resort. Yes, there were inappropriate jokes and a phallic hat. A great way to relax into con mode.
From there, it was off to the preview part of preview night - Nikita. It was very interesting. Bit rough in a few spots, but good for a pilot. It seems to very much split off from the movies rather than the previous television show, which gives it a lot of legs to run. Lots of twists and turns. The Maggie Q, the actress playing Nikita, was several shades of awesome. And the... well, I don't want to give anything away. It was twisty. I'll be curious to see it in the fall when they shift into the actual show. Seems kind of like a 1 season concept, a la Veronica Mars, but we'll see.
From there it was down to the dealer's room, which was already heading toward packed. We walked and gawked and breathed in geek. Breathed out geek. Got free stuff. Bought a thing or too. Tried to restrain the frenzy. It is after all just preview night.
Alas, when we emerged, Flynns Arcade was closed, as was our favorite wine bar. We ended up in the somewhat over priced, but comfy wine bar at our hotel.
