When He Was Wicked by Julia Quinn
Description: Regency Romance. The rake who loves his cousin's wife
from afar and then really, really afar and then really, really, really close.
A nice juicy novel whose meat and drink is longing for what...not so much you
cannot have, but do not give yourself permission to try to have.
In so many romances, the author must contort reasons why our star crossed
lovers can never be. Here there is no reason for contortion. The contortion bar
is not society or villains with black mustachios or a tragic misunderstanding.
Tragic I say!
The bar is tragedy itself. Barely two chapters into the book, Francesca
Bridgerton looses her husband and our Rake, Michael Stirling, looses not just a
cousin, but his best friend.
As with most Julia Quinn books, there are humorous moment, but it is the
sorrow at the heart of the book that makes the love all the richer.
