Restaurants
Paragon at the Claremont
A hip, young themed restaurant in a beautiful old historic hotel nestled in
the Berkeley hills. The view from front deck is absolutely amazing. The city,
the Golden Gate Bridge, the bay itself, all are laid out for a visitor's
pleasure.
The food is equally good. I started the evening with a cocktail, a tropical
sunset, that was mild and sweet. For my meal, I had Tiger Prawn spaghetti with a
tomato broth, bacon and peas. It was mildly spicy with a hint of smoke from the
bacon. My mother had tube pasta with arugula, spinach, and chicken. It had a
mellow, nutty flavor.
For desert, we shared a chocolate hazelnut sundae with brandied cherries. It
was rich, without being overwhelming and we scraped the glass clean.
After dinner, we went out on the porch again, looked out at the glittering
lights of the city.
