Taste of Thailand
You know, I 've written this three times now. I'm beginning to think this
is cursed. Or maybe I should just get started on the final version. Whatever.
Thailand was a trip. Well, okay literally, it was the trip that Karen
and I went on this year (two weeks in May/June). It was also trippy and
dichotomous and really, really shiny.
Temple
towers covered in gold and bits of mirror that reflected the equatorial
light into my Northern European eyes. Blinding me. Filling me with 90 degree
something heat in the humid tropical air. Air with texture. Air full of
life and, in Bangkok's case, smog. A place where elephants are used as
beasts of burden and Bangkok has the worst traffic that I've ever seen
(cars, not elephants).
A land filled with cheap shopping and thousands of monks. They're everywhere
in their saffron robes and bare feet.
However, I've been busy making the photo album (I'm going with sequins
this year. Thailand deserves lots of sequins and shiny pretty corners for
every photo) and I will have to say more here later.
