Napa
County Landmarks 13th Annual Holiday CandleLight Tour
12.8.01
A
Victorian Chocolate Delight.
Every year, mom and I try
to do something different and unique for the holidays. Do the mom/daughter
bonding thing and celebrate Christmas all in one.
This year, we went up to
Napa to look at Victorian homes. I never knew that Napa was so, prosperous
back in the day.
There are some beautiful
old great grand mansions. There were 9 homes in all ranging from private
homes, to B&B’s to law offices. Winding staircases, filigreed porches,
gingerbread, wood floors, antique wallpaper. Some were decorated to evoke
period grandeur, while others were done in post-modern chic.
There were docents at each
house who gave little talks about the history of the house and several
houses had chocolate snacks.
As the evening progressed,
the spot lights and the candles came out. Very cool.
Gaskells
12.22.01
Ah, Christmas Gaskells.
Full of dancing swaying far too many beautifully dressed people.
As always, the Christmas
Gaskells, was quite a scandalous crush. La.
During the breaks we sang
carols, I love caroling and Gina and I were careful not to stand next to
each other. Thus avoiding the sadness and pain that is violently off key
singing (Our fate when we enter each others singing orbit.).
