Quinn's Lighthouse is actually an old (1880's) lighthouse that used to be located at the mouth of the estuary leading to the port of Oakland. In its new location, it's a wonderful seafood restaurant and pub. Quinn's has long been a favorite hangout for the Coasties from the nearby base and I can see why. We ate upstairs in the pub where the atmosphere was convival, the floor was strewn with peanut shells, and the food served is the same as in the fanicer restaurant downstairs. We sample several tasty appetizers - calimari, buffalo wings, and a delightful ceasar salad. I had linguine in pesto with shrimp. I was making mmm mmm noises and so were the rest of my family. My brother was particularly taken with the fish and chips - simple but easy to screw up. My uncle ordered a dinner salad which he couldn't finish though he gave it a good try. The prices are definitely reasonable and for an extra thrill, on Thursday nights they have a live band playing "traditional sea shanties and ribald drinking songs". Check it out.
