Wine

We went up to the Sonoma Alexander Valley Wine Country for the Winter Wine Festival.

Alexander Valley Valley Vineyards

This was great winery. We went on a tour of their wine caves and quite seriously that was one of the best smells bottled in a cave that I have ever encountered. Rich and warm. Mmmm...

2000 New Gewurz
$9.00
Sweet without being cloying. Fresh and clean.

1999 Estate Pinot Noir
$18.00
Full chocolaty, velvety with smooth mouth feel.

1999 Sin Zin
$20.00
Rich, brambly, smoky, smooth.

Canyon Road Winery

Geyer Peak Opulence Dessert Wine 750 ml
$9.00
Sweet floral, tasty, with light orange blossoms, a touch of sherbet.

1997 Barwang Reserve Shiraz
Smoky, warm, black cherries, black pepper, with a touch of tannin.

White Oak

White Oak had a gorgeous facility with a lovely fountain plaza.

1998 Zinfandel, Alexander Valley
$18.95
Served with a minestrone soup. Figgy, light, with a touch of pepper.

Johnson's Alexander Valley Wines

Located in a cool old barn style  building, they have a fully functioning 1924 Robert Morton Theater Pipe organ. Apparently, they periodically play silent movies. But anyway, the wine.

1997 Chardonnay
Oak, toast, butter, with a sharp flavor at the end.

1998 Riesling
Orange creamsicle, warm, almost sweet.

1997 Late Harvest Riesling
A touch of apricots on the front of the tongue.
